A true-to-life trial demonstration based on an actual malpractice suit brought against a dentist will be presented. It will include opening and closing statements, as well as direct and cross-examinations of the dentist, expert witnesses, and the patient. The demonstration will illustrate various issues, including the importance of proper record keeping, informed consent, and the evaluation of claims presented in terms of both legal liability and damages. The audience will serve as the jury, deliberate the case, and render a verdict. A discussion of the case will follow.
