We are currently observing a skin cancer epidemic. Within the skin cancer family, melanoma is the third most common skin cancer but has the highest mortality rate. We will discuss melanoma at length, including its diagnosis, precursor lesions, subtypes of melanoma, prognosis, and treatment options. In addition, we will discuss other pigmented lesions, which may mimic melanoma.
