Format: MP3 Audio file download
Spirituality is that which gives meaning to one's life and draws one to transcend oneself. This experiential session will
focus on the integration of hypnosis, mindfulness and Compassionate Communication to promote spirituality in clinical
encounters. Participants will learn to integrate mindful speech and mindful listening into clinical encounters. They will
learn the basics of Compassionate (Non-Violent) Communication, a style of communicating that promotes non-judgment
and focuses on feelings and universal needs as a way developing empathy and rapport. Compassionate Communication
will also be explored as a way to foster resiliency through self-acceptance, self-compassion, and personal growth. The
scientific evidence for the health benefits of mindfulness will be reviewed. Participants will have the opportunity to
explore the practice of mindfulness as a way of inducing trance and the use of ritual as a method for re-alerting from
trance. The practices of mindfulness and Compassionate Communication can be powerful tools in eradicating feelings
of guilt, shame, and depression. They are also very helpful in resolving external and internal conflicts peacefully and
powerfully. This integrative approach to healing is useful in a variety of clinical encounters and is particularly helpful in
transcending and transforming traumatic experiences.
