Dr. Brown will present self hypnosis smoking cessation program developed over 30 years in the presenters teaching family medicine practice. Hartlands ego strengthening and ego strengthening metaphors and a smoking abstinence script will be demonstrated.
The attendee will be able to learn from this session how to introduce clients or patients to hypnosis. They will be able to impact patient care by teaching smokers how to do self-hypnosis to become and remain a non-smoker for the rest of their life. This technique will be demonstrated during the workshop so the attendee will be able to return to their practice next week and teach the smokers how to achieve this objective. By doing three trances each day to become and remain a nonsmoker for the rest of their life, they will improve their health and increase length of life and quality of life more than any other activity. This approach will be described to the attendees and they will be given the opportunity for an experiential workshop by experiencing a number of trances that contain actual material used with patients in the presenter's practice. He will demonstrate actual scripts that he uses with patients using pacing, tone, inflection and time sequencing with quiet periods in between to deepen trance.
At the conclusion of this session, participants should be able to…
Teach their smoking patients or clients how to do self hypnosis three times daily to
become and remain a non-smoker;
Use the information, techniques and articles in their practice to facilitate this process;
and
Make audiotapes of their trances to advise their patients to listen to daily to increase
their learning curve to self-hypnosis and non-smoking status.
