Changes made to historic road corridors are often shaped by interpretations of
the design guidelines of AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and
Transportation Officials) and state governments. Preservation consultants,
engineers, and landscape architects will discuss recent projects in Kentucky,
Virginia, and Maryland to describe ways to work within existing AASHTO and
state guidelines to achieve preservation goals.
